Momentum welcomes the news that the Dun Manwel Attard Resource Centre in Wardija will be accepting students for the next scholastic year

Momentum welcomes the news that the Dun Manwel Attard Resource Centre in Wardija will be accepting students for the next scholastic year.

This is all a result of the enormous pressure exerted by civil society.

When parents received the enrolment form for 2026-2027, Wardija was simply not listed as an option. It took a parliamentary petition, public pressure, and months of unnecessary anxiety before families got an answer. These are families of young people with intellectual disabilities aged 16 to 22. They deserved better.

Billy McBee, Momentum Candidate on the 2st and 6th Electoral Districtsstated: “Momentum endorses the position of the Movement in Favour of the Rights for Persons with Disability – Malta (NGO). Every person with a disability has an equal right to education, continuity of care, and genuine choice. As the Movement rightly said, these discussions should have happened much earlier. We agree completely.

Momentum has committed and will continue to commit to person-centred disability services and full UNCRPD compliance. No state resource centre serving persons with disabilities may be phased out or removed from the enrolment process without full public consultation, written communication to families, parental consent, and verified quality assurance of any alternative.
Saying a centre will remain open means nothing if children cannot actually enrol in it”.
