Demanding a Shift to Quieter, Safer Machinery for Excavation and Construction to Protect Workers and Residents

Momentum is calling for the immediatel adoption of alternative construction methods to combat the rising national mental health distress and unneccessary risk exposure to workers. Citing “too much construction” and its associated health risks, Momentum is urging a transition towards low-impact machinery.

The current construction climate relies on heavy equipment and methods that cause significant vibration and noise, leading to long-term physical and psychological damage for workers and chronic stress for residents. By investing in modern demolition and excavation methods, the industry can achieve:

  • Enhanced Worker Safety: Reduced risk of vibration-induced severe disability and hearing loss.
  • Improved Mental Health: Quieter neighborhoods and decreased stress for citizens

Momentum Candidate on the 7th and 10th District, Prof Pierre Schembri-WIsmayer, stated: “The technology to improve our quality of life already exists; it is time to prioritize health over out-dated, harmful methods”.
