Your protest sign belongs in Parliament

Dear Activist. You are a person who is accustomed to fighting for what you believe in. You’re out there on the streets where you’ve organised, mobilised, educated, and resisted. The reality is that you are the real engine of change in this country. Truth is that the realest form of politics is activism. And yet if you’re like most, when you look at the local political landscape you are probably saying: “that is definitely not for me.”

Selling out is not an option, and stepping into the political arena reeks of it. You’re afraid that you’ll be forced to dilute your message, compromise your values, and useless posturing will drain the energy you currently pour into your activism. You’re afraid you won’t have time for the work that truly matters.

Here’s what I’d like you to know: your activism is the work that matters. And it’s time to take that work, without changing its current form, to the one place it can have the most profound impact: the ballot sheet, and ultimately, Parliament.

We are currently represented by a class of politicians that is utterly disconnected from the people they claim to represent. Their intentions are a facade. They play with words, master the art of empty promises, and swap their values whenever it is convenient. They speak of environmental protection while sanctioning destruction. They talk of social justice while protecting the greedy and powerful. Their loyalty isn’t to a vision for a better country; it’s to the party donors and ensuring their party’s electoral success.

But like you, we share a core belief in justice, sustainability, and transparency. If you feel such values are non-negotiable, then you are one of us. Unfortunately, these are the same values that two major parties consistently shove aside in favour of greed and power, whenever it suits them

Think about it: every protest you’ve organised and every petition collected signatures for, that is some of the most authentic political campaigning our country has ever seen. While a number of elected politicians spend fortunes on their slogans and billboards, you have been building trust and demonstrating commitment through pure action. People are tired of words. I believe that they are ready to vote for people who are active and effective. They are ready to vote for you.

Our goal is to elect a true activist into parliament as part of Momentum. We believe real change doesn’t come from playing musical chairs in a broken system; it comes from sending in people who are dedicated to dismantling it and building something better. That is where we can start seeing real change. The two big parties are compromised; they have made it abundantly clear that they care more about their funders than about our country.

I am not asking you to stop being an activist, far from it. I am asking you to become an even more powerful one. You won’t be alone. Momentum is ready for you, and we will be with you in this journey, providing the support and the platform you need. Our party is efficient, effective and clean. Your cause will become our cause.

You can be the first domino that breaks the status quo.

It’s time to move the front line of your activism from the street to the very heart of our democracy. Instead of shouting at the parliament building, we can get inside and fix the system.

Reach out to Momentum today. Let’s talk about how you can become a candidate without sacrificing any aspect of your activism. Keep doing what you do, and be on the next ballot sheet with us.
