Momentum to hold Vision Circle on domestic violence and gender-based violence

A Vision Circle on domestic violence and gender-based violence will be held by Momentum on 14 November 2026, from 10:00 to 12:00, at Salini, Naxxar.

In 2025, 2,174 cases of domestic violence were reported in Malta. Reports have also risen by 70% over five years. Beside domestic and intimate partner abuse, gender-based violence encompasses sexual assault, rape, workplace harassment and public non-partner violence. Figures presented by the National Statistics Office (NSO) in 2024 showed that 27.1% of females and 11% of males had experienced sexual harassment at work.

Over the past few months, Momentum representatives have had regular discussions with several experts in the field to gain a deeper understanding of the situation and to draft policy proposals to address the problem.

This Vision Circle will be the next step in this process. During a Vision Circle, members of the public are invited to share their views, experiences and ideas in a two-hour group discussion. At the start of the event, participants will be assigned to smaller groups, where discussions will be led by a Momentum moderator and rapporteur.

The points raised by each group will be collated and analysed by Momentum and leading experts in gender-based and domestic violence, and will form the basis of the party’s final policy document.

Members of the public are invited to take part in an open discussion on an issue that affects the whole community, men and women alike, and to contribute to building a safer society. Those wishing to participate should register their interest on Momentum’s website: https://partitmomentum.org/vc.

There is hope, you can help!
