Momentum looks forward for potential new bill that will allow for a ‘living will’
Momentum welcomes the news that a new bill will be tabled in Parliament to allow patients to draw up ‘living wills’ and formally refuse medical treatment in the event of future incapacitation.
This step is a welcome move toward strengthening personal autonomy and patient rights in Malta. We are particularly encouraged to see that the bill aligns closely with the proposals Momentum put forward in May 2025. Such draft law should be accompanied by a proposed bill for palliative care:
Momentum General Secretary Mark Camilleri Gambin said: “While we are positive about the announcement of this framework, we look forward to examining the full details of the bill as it progresses through Parliament to ensure it provides the necessary legal clarity and safeguards.”
There is hope, you can help!
