Urgent Public Magisterial Inquiry needed on prisoner’s illegal access to laptop, wifi and internet

The internal inquiry by the Ministry of the Interior on Adrian Agius’s access to a laptop, wifi and internet in prison is simply not enough.

The findings of such internal inquiry can never be utilised by the prosecution in the event of a court arraignment.

Momentum leader, Arnold Cassola, stated: “A public magisterial inquiry should be immediately held. The inquiry should investigate how the laptop, wifi and internet connection got into Agius’s hands, who were the accomplices in providing him with them, any connections between prison authorities and Agius’s personal legal team, the contents of the conversations going on secretly in whatsapp, facebook messenger, email or what not.

Agius has already been found guilty of providing the explosives necessary for the assassination of two people. He is also suspected of providing explosives for the assassination of various other people”.

Robert Abela has already shown that he is ready to impede the course of justice when he initially refused to hold a public Inquiry into the causes of the death of Jean Paul Sofia. “I hope that Abela has learnt his lesson. This is not simply a matter of security in the prisons, this is a very serious case that impacts national security itself”, concluded Arnold Cassola.
