Targeted theft of Momentum candidate’s banners in Marsaskala

Campaign banners belonging to Momentum General Secretary and electoral candidate Mark Camilleri Gambin were stolen from Marsaskala. The theft occurred in the third district, which is one of the two districts Camilleri Gambin will be contesting. Tellingly, the campaign banners of other political parties in the exact same vicinity remain completely untouched.

Camilleri Gambin has recently been highly vociferous regarding the Marsaskala promenade project. He has consistently called on the authorities to provide transparency and clear information to the public. It increasingly appears that the genuine and open methodology of our candidate is unwelcome to certain individuals who would prefer that major local projects remain shrouded in secrecy.

A formal police report is being filed by Camilleri Gambin this morning to investigate the targeted removal of his campaign materials.

Taking to social media yesterday evening, Camilleri Gambin expressed his frustration at the blatant attempt at censorship, whilst making it clear that the incident has only strengthened his resolve.

“While it is certainly frustrating to deal with these petty tactics, this incident will absolutely not slow us down,” Camilleri Gambin stated. “If someone believes that removing a few banners will silence our questions about the Marsaskala promenade project, they are very much mistaken. We will keep fighting for good governance, a beautiful island, and a transparent process for all residents.”

Momentum urges anyone with information regarding the theft to come forward and contact the local authorities.
