Momentum calls for immediate dismissal of Neville Gafà

Momentum strongly condemns the actions of Neville Gafà.
This official within the Office of the Prime Minister was filmed removing tributes honouring journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia at the Great Siege Memorial. These tributes included wreaths placed by foreign embassies.
Momentum leader Arnold Cassola stated: “Such an act is a blatant show of disrespect toward the memory of a murdered journalist and an alarming display of intolerance by someone entrusted with public office. It represents a deliberate attempt to erase public remembrance and silence civic expression.”
Momentum demands:
- The immediate dismissal of Neville Gafà from any government role.
- A transparent investigation into who authorised or condoned this action.
- A public apology from the Prime Minister and the Office of the Prime Minister to the Caruana Galizia family, civil society, and the diplomatic entities.
Cassola concluded “Such conduct has no place in a democratic state. Allowing public officials to desecrate tributes to a slain journalist undermines both the dignity of our institutions and Malta’s international reputation.”
Momentum calls on the Prime Minister to act decisively and restore public trust by removing Neville Gafà without delay.
